ABOUT THE POWDER ROOM PLEDGE

Did you know? The bathroom is the source of the most significant water consumption in the household. The average American uses 80-100 gallons of water per day. That’s why Micro Cotton® started the Powder Room Pledge, promising to help make bathrooms at home more sustainable. For every pledge, Micro Cotton® is donating one dollar^ to Clean Water Fund to help campaign for cleaner and safer water, cleaner air, and protection from toxic pollution in homes, neighborhoods and workplaces.

By taking the pledge, you’ll be entered for the chance to win the grand prize of $10,000 for a sustainable bathroom makeover, and five runners up will win $500 for sustainable renovations!

Enter to win once per day from now until December 31!

BEING MORE SUSTAINABLE AT HOME

CHECK FAUCETS AND PIPES FOR LEAKS

A leaky faucet that drips once per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons per year.

TURN OFF WATER WHILE SHAVING AND BRUSHING TEETH

This can save up to nine gallons of water per day.

TAKE SHORTER SHOWERS

An average shower head uses 2.5 gallons of water per minute. That’s 20 gallons of water for an eight-minute shower!

SAVE IT UP

Keep a bucket in the shower to catch the water you don’t use. Use it to water flowers or vegetables.

ONLY RUN WASHING MACHINES AND DISHWASHERS WHEN FULL

And using cold water whenever possible can help save on energy costs.

THINK BEFORE YOU... FLUSH

Conventional toilets can use 5 to 7 gallons per flush. Throw tissues and other bathroom waste in the garbage can instead.

SWITCH TO SMARTER

New technology uses less energy and can save you money. Switch to LED lighting, quieter ceiling fans and eco-friendly shower heads.

USE ECO-FRIENDLY TOWELS LIKE MICRO COTTON®

Less than 1 liter of fresh water is used for each Micro Cotton® bath towel.
